We’re going to the Poconos
2Tomorrow, I will be heading to the Poconos with Melanie and her family. I won’t return until July 12th, but that doesn’t mean we’ll be out of touch. I plan on updating the world about my life, even while on vacation, because I know every one of you cares so much and would be lost without me. Actually, I just think it brings a slightly more interactive side to the site that will, hopefully, encourage more conversation.
For starters, as I did for my baseball road trip, last year, I’ll be turning on daily posts that summarize each day’s Twitter posts. It helps give a more clear cut path to follow for my non-followers. I also had a good time reading over the posts from the roadtrip last year myself, so it’ll be fun for me to read over them later on, too.
Also, I’ll be uploading pictures every now and then, too. While I’ve used Flickr in the past, I’ll be using Facebook this time around. For now, the pictures will upload to my Mobile Uploads album, but I’ll move them to their own separate album once I get back and settled in. I’ll put a more permanent link to the album in my sidebar on the far right, linked as “Mobile Picture Uploads”, so you don’t have to dig around for it (that means you, mom lol).
Any other ideas of things you think I can include? Let me know in the next 12 hours and I’ll see what I can do.
Smile Empty Soul “Don’t Ever Leave” Lyrics
14Half inch fuse, ready to bite
Never said you’re sorry cause you’ve always been right
Tell me I’m lame every Saturday night
Cause you drink too many and you want to fight
All my life, hold my breath
Wonder what trouble is coming next
Hold on tight through this mess
Sing that song cause you sing it best
La la la la
Hey…
I love it when you’re spitting in my face
The way you scream when you’re breaking all my things
I love the way you put me in my place
Don’t ever leave me alone
Smile Empty Soul “Faceless” Lyrics
4God only knows
All the side effects of listening
To static on the radio
Stare at the screen
‘Til the videos have driven you
To lunacy with visuals
I can’t believe you sold…
I can’t believe you sold out
Rip your soul out
Rip your soul…
Would you face me and look into my eyes
Before you lie straight through your teeth
And maybe you’ll pull it off again
But you can count me out
Bang On: The New 007 sucks
2The James Bond movie franchise is one of the longest running in history. It’s held a very similar, yet successful, formula for over twenty films. The rights holders, regardless of the success they’ve had, though, decided to change the direction of the famed spy saga a bit with the casting of the current Bond, Daniel Craig. He’s supposed to be more like the character from the books and the movies, themselves, are supposed to be more realistic. There’s only one problem: The new Bond movies suck.
Slight reorganization
0I’ve started work on reorganizing the site to separate content better and, perhaps, allow me to post more content that will bring in more visitors.
The first change is a pretty simple one. I created a new category called “Tech Talk” where I can post random tech news without throwing it into the rather generic “General” category. I hope to begin posting little tech tidbits, here and there, about random things that interest me. I won’t be posting news or anything, so don’t expect to see that here.
I’ve also, once again, switched around the category listing in the first column on the right. I put the “Journal” and “Tech Talk” categories up top since I believe most people coming here will be looking there. I’ve also taken the “Lyrics” listing out of the column, though a link still exists to the category in the right most column.
Any more ideas, boys and girls?
Wrong about Eminem
0So, I may have been a bit wrong about the latest Eminem album. I’ve given it a more attentive listen and it’s not that bad, actually. It’s not exactly as good as some of his earlier work, but it’s much better than anything in recent memory.
The first half of the album is very focused on him being insane and controversial and he does it right. Unlike on “Encore”, Eminem doesn’t waste out time with tracks laced with fart noises and the like. Instead, he delivers, as quickly as ever, joke after joke about his mother and celebrities and women. It’s ceaseless and harsh, but entertaining to listen to.
The ending of the album is more serious with the track “Deja Vu” being the highlight of the album, for me. Eminem, as he’s done so many times before, just exposes himself to the public eye and openly admits to the drug addictions he’s battled over the past four years. It’s a very well done retrospective. He may never change and be as mature as he is in songs like this, but it’s a personal touch that really adds much needed heart to the album.
The Scrubs finale was amazing
3For the uninitiated, the main character of the television show “Scrubs”, J.D. (played by Zach Barff), will be leaving the series regardless if it continues or not. J.D., after walking the halls of the hospital he’s worked at for the past 8 years and seeing the faces of all the people he’s come to know, imagines what the future will hold for him. It’s just done so well and I thought I’d share with you.
A Lesson on Fire
0This was one of the funniest scenes of The Office that I’ve ever had the privilege to watch.
Killed the mobile version
1I decided to remove the mobile version of this site.
If you weren’t aware, if you used a cell phone or similar device to browse this site, you would be presented with a cut back version that was designed to make it easier to load and read on small screens. However, with the general public moving towards using full browsers on their mobile devices, it seemed a bit silly to deliver such a bland page. Now, whether on the desktop or a connected mobile device, you will get the same page and the same experience. Don’t worry; my rants are amazing on screens of all sizes.
Smile Empty Soul “Alone”
2This was a bonus song on an album from Troll Forcefield, for which Smile Empty Soul frontman, Sean, plays guitar. It’s a good song, to me, so I thought I’d share it.
