Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes
I’ve made a few changes here in the past couple of days.
The first change is in the structure of links. Before, a link to an article on the site would look like “www.bangbang023.com/wordpress/archives/413″. Not exactly descriptive. I have now changed the link structure to read as “www.bangbang023.com/wordpress/2007/08/03/smile-empty-soul-possession-lyrics/”. Not only do search engines prefer this, but it gives you a much better idea about the link before you even click it. What about the old links, though? Don’t worry. They will automatically forward to the new format so bookmarks and and search engine entries don’t become invalidated.
Secondly, I decided to do a bit of work to help stop registration spam. For some reason, bots like to sign up on the site though they never actually post anything. To combat this, I’ve turned on a CAPTCHA plugin. It’ll give new users a little funky image with random characters in it which they must type into a text box in order to verify they are human and not machine.
Hopefully, nothing is broken because of all of these changes. If you notice something, let me know.
