Unexpected sign of gratitude

For the uninitiated, my mom babysits up to four kids for a family we are close with. The oldest, Mikey, is about 8 years old now. For my own personal reasons, every now and then, I take him outside and try to teach him the basics of throwing and catching a baseball. I bought him a glove last year so he could really start to understand the game and what he needs to do to catch the ball correctly.

Today, after coming home from work, my mom showed me a baseball he had decided to give to me as a sign of thanks. He may have misspelled my name, but that’s not the point. Honestly, I just felt kind of honored to think that he appreciates what I’ve helped him with. I didn’t think I was doing much. I guess the value of an act can be very relative.
