Radio is Back in New York City
Last year, K-Rock (92.3 FM) went through a drastic change and became a talk show radio station called FreeFM. It sucked. With the death of K-Rock, there were no longer any modern rock stations in NYC. Hell, we had 104.3, but that’s all classic stuff that I can’t stand. I just stopped listening to the radio. There was nothing on the airwaves that I cared for. It was either rap, pop, or classic music. I was left a very sad little boy.
Yesterday, however, things seemed a bit weird. Joe was doing his usual channel flipping as we drove to the park and every time he hit 92.3, there was a song on that I liked. I thought that, perhaps, it was some weekend thing. Today I found out that it’s not a weekend thing, at all. Apparently, the powers that be decided that FreeFM’s ratings couldn’t get much lower, so they brought back K-Rock. Hell yeah! I wish they would play a little more nu-metal, but I’m happy I have something, at least. Long live K-Rock, baby.
