One more dead Xbox 360
Only 32 days ago did I finally plunk down the money and buy myself an Xbox 360. While I may only own 3 games (Project Gotham Racing 3, Crackdown, and MLB 2K7) I have loved the system every bit as much as I had enjoyed my Xbox and my Playstation 2. How could any of this possibly go wrong? Well, when the damn thing dies…
So, yes, my Xbox 360 died 2 nights ago. After only owning it for 30 days, the machine stopped reading any and all discs. The problem actually came into play in the middle of a game of MLB 2k7, during which a loud grinding noise started to scream out of the 360. I wasn’t going to risk losing my disc, so I shut off the console and went to bed. I tried to play yesterday, and well, here we are. Thankfully, I bought the Product Replacement Plan from work, so I was able to go in and swap the unit out for a new one in no time at all.
Microsoft continues to deny there’s any issues worth noting with the 360, but I really have a feeling that the failure rate is higher than they want to admit. Only a few days ago, in an interview, a game developer readily admitted they were on their 8th Xbox 360. How is that acceptable by an stretch of the term?
I love the system and I like Microsoft, but I really wish they would grow a set and come out and do something more about this situation.
It agrees with me that MLB2K7 is over rated
