Short Goodbye (8/28/2006)

This news came on through just a little unexpectedly
It messed with me mentally and weighed on me collectively
Like the burden of a world that’s a little less pleasing
I already see their faces and can almost hear the teasing
But it really isn’t easy when a friend parts into darkness
When every silent moment becomes one of the hardest
It may all seem so silly, but a friend by definition
Is a being there beside you, never changing their position
So I’m here in this condition, in a moment of reflection
So many little smiles that would total to perfection
My buddy there beside me, always loyal to the ending
The memories keep living though the body has no mending
And I know the day is pending when I’ll see you once again
When the last breath from my lungs will leave me at the end
When I’ll get to see my friend in every bit of glory
With eternity to spend continuing this story
