New Linkin Park Track

Linkin Park was someplace in Asia lately when they performed a new song, titled “QWERTY”. It’s one of many they are working on and are considering possibly putting on their next album. Just today, they actually posted a download link to the song online. Yep, you get to listen to this freely and legally. Enjoy.

Watch Out Florida

It’s that time of the year and a recurring threat is starting to rear it’s ugly head. No, I’m not talking about hurricanes or tropical storms. The naked tickler is back, a year later, and this time he has a baseball cap.

Authorities in Volusia County, Fla., are searching for a naked man who breaks into the homes of women and tickles their feet as they sleep, according to a Local 6 News report.

Investigators said a woman who was asleep in her home on Katy Drive in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Saturday woke up at about 3 a.m. and found a man wearing only a baseball cap tickling her foot.

Police said when she screamed, the man dashed across the room with his hands covering his crotch.

The woman called 911 but the man had fled the area.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is working with the New Smyrna Beach Police Department on this case since several similar incidents happened in the area in 2005.

Police only have a vague description of the culprit.

A Few Random Thoughts

I haven’t written a general journal entry in a while. I have some time before we start recording the podcast, so I figured I’d use it wisely.

Things are still a little weird without Prancer. You just get into a routine that you don’t even realize until it’s broken. For instance, almost every morning, I’d wake up and he’d be locked in my room as my mom did the morning cleaning and such. He’d always lie next to my legs and I’d bitch at him for taking so much space lol. Then coming home from work, I’d open the door to my room to see him there and I’d ask him how he’s doing. Now the lights aren’t even on anymore. It’s just weird, you know?

The weather has completely sucked lately. With summer ending, I want to get a few more baseball catches in before it gets too cold again. Well, this none stop drizzling is ruining things. Man, I hate when summer ends, though. Winter in NYC is so gray and depressing. Usually by February, I’m a miserable mess. It’s odd how the weather can affects a person’s mood so easily, but damn does it wear on me.

One good thing about summer ending, though, is the fact that all the kiddies go back to school. Hopefully, this will ease up things on Neowin a bit. Yesterday alone, I had some asshat go nuts because he didn’t like staff action on the site (when he was clearly wrong). He spent the whole evening spamming my site (until I blocked his IP) and bothering me on multiple screen names on Yahoo. Apparently, he’s going to kill me. I’ll keep you updated on my living status lol.

Now for some quick product reviews:

I finally got myself a new razor. I picked up the Norelco 8140xl after deciding it would be a better investment than buying new blades for my old razor. The first shave was a little rough and actually concerned me, but a few shaves in and I am experiencing the closest, most irritation free shaves ever. The triple bladed heads cut down the amount of time spent shaving in half and do a much better job than my 7140 ever did. The unit itself is very light weight, though the plastic feels a little cheap. Cleaning it is a snap: You just open the head and rinse it with warm water. My only complaint is the lack of a low battery indicator. They seem to use this as a reason to buy the more expensive models, but I just couldn’t justify it. It’s annoying, but using their razors since I started shaving, I know what a low battery sounds like in terms of the motor. If you’re looking for a good electric shave, definitely check this one out.

The latest Breaking Benjamin album, “Phobia”, was also released recently. It’s very solid. I’m not going to claim it’s one of my favorites ever, but it is definitely a good compilation from beginning to end. If you like the band or the genre, give it a listen and see what you think.

That rambling made me feel a bit better. Thanks for reading boys and girls.

Short Goodbye

Short Goodbye (8/28/2006)

This news came on through just a little unexpectedly
It messed with me mentally and weighed on me collectively
Like the burden of a world that’s a little less pleasing
I already see their faces and can almost hear the teasing
But it really isn’t easy when a friend parts into darkness
When every silent moment becomes one of the hardest
It may all seem so silly, but a friend by definition
Is a being there beside you, never changing their position
So I’m here in this condition, in a moment of reflection
So many little smiles that would total to perfection
My buddy there beside me, always loyal to the ending
The memories keep living though the body has no mending
And I know the day is pending when I’ll see you once again
When the last breath from my lungs will leave me at the end
When I’ll get to see my friend in every bit of glory
With eternity to spend continuing this story

Notes: Just a short one dedicated to Prancer. Just clearing my head and shit. I don’t think anything else needed to be said, so I left it there.

Goodbye Dear Friend

My dog, Prancer, had to be put down today because he had advanced lung cancer to the point where he could barely breathe. It’s funny how an animal that can’t talk or really do much other than be there can be such a presence in someone’s life. I don’t love much, but I loved that dog. Fuck, mean yeah he barked too much, but not many people can be as loyal a friend as he was. I’m gonna fucking miss him for sure. Rest in peace, buddy. A tear has dropped for you, that I promise. And for one last time, let me just ask you, “How you doing, boy?”

World’s Most Expensive MP3 Player

Have $20,000 to spare? Why not pick up the world’s most expensive mp3 player? It’s cast in 18 carat gold and has 63 diamonds on it. Of course it only has 1gb of space for your music, but I guess that’s why it’s only 20 grand.

Your Silent Truths

Your Silent Truths (8/26/2006)

Let’s analyze the way the same situation can be played
A different fucking vibe every other single day
One minute you feel hope then the next you feel disgusted
Sickness in the fact that you thought they could be trusted
But now it’s gone and busted, there’s anger by the wayside
It’s better than the sadness, it’s not like either way’s right
Sitting on the stage right while life exits on the left
Something you had hoped for, but now you’re stuck with less
And you feel it in your chest as you clench on to the madness
Insanity is rageful, but you love it more than sadness
You’ve given it two years, or, for some, it’s been a life time
Now parting is the sorrow, there can never be a right time
So let it be our fight time, let’s swing our fists in glory
Punching with our words cause verbally, it’s gory
A generic kind of story that has fallen in our places
As we feel it closing in like the bars of shrinking cages
And it’s hard to keep our patience as everything is leaving
What the fuck should I just do after taking such a beating?
Your silence is deceiving to the point it’s fucking hurtful
Why can’t it be said straight instead running round in circles?
Cause now I’m black and purple, all the bruises on my spirit
There is nothing you can say that can simply up and clear it
This act of disappearance is something unforgettable
Still I’m forced to face it, the truth is so incredible
I had you on a pedestal, but now it’s cracked and broken
As two turns into one without a single word left spoken
Facts lost in the silence quickly turn into a lie
As the shortest of hello’s quickly turn into goodbye

Notes: It’s a combination of personal and external inspirations. I think the meaning is pretty clear, either way. It it probably my smoothest flowing piece in a while.

Customer of the Day

This is seriously real. The following question instantly shot up my “what a fucking retard” list to one of the top spots:

Customer: Do you carry any CD players with auto reverse?

Yes, this actually happened. No, I can’t believe it either.

Failure Obsession

Failure Obsession (8/19/2006)

It’s hard to understand everything that I’ve digested
If I stare a little longer, I just magically might get it
But why am I obsessed with realistic comprehension
When every time I try it, I am left out in suspension
Floating through the nothings that I’ve built the past few years on
What renders no emotion used to motivate and cheer on
Every little nuance that I’ve lost inside confusion
‘Til the person that I am is nothing more than a dilution
A watered down reflection, one dimension, nothing more
Drinking of the solitude that hides behind the door
Loneliness, insanity, and the screams I keep inside
Dullen out the glisten that once gleamed inside my eyes
And it keeps me bordered up, locked away from every world
From the people that I’ve grown with to every single boy and girl
Every single person that I shove into a corner
I keep them far away and put walls around the border
Cause I’m afraid to make a move, I’m obsessed with never failing
Walking when I used to run and clenching at the railing
Fearlessness that never was, but courage that sure did
Evolving to complacency where “just enough” it is
But is this all so healthy? I don’t think I want the answer
It’s one addiction more that has grown in me like cancer
Some call it a cliche of sorts, but this is how I live
Far away from everything with nothing much to give

Notes: Still a bit short, but I’m taking baby steps.

Tale of the Tooth

Got back from the dentist. I need a root canal done on the tooth in front of my wisdom tooth. I also have 5 cavities and my wisdom tooth needs to come out. Jesus Christ……damn you Pepsi and Coke.

I’m getting the root canal taken care of in two weeks. The cavities will have to wait until I get health insurance and it can be done affordably. As for the extraction of the wisdom tooth: He predicts it’ll be painful enough that it would be best if he sent me to another place so they could knock me out while they do it. Needless to say, that’s going to have to wait too. I figure, as soon as I get my insurance (if I get the full time position at Magnolia), I’ll get the cavities filled. After that, I’ll assess what to do about the damn wisdom tooth.

By the way, the root canal has to be done on the tooth that chipped a bit a while back. He poked the damn thing just the right way that it’s killing me now. Fucking dentists. They’re sadists. I’m sure of it.
