One of Those Days

1

It’s been one of those days. I could tell from the get go it wasn’t going to be pleasant. After waking up a half hour late for work and having to deal with chaos, my patience was already thinned out and a mix of rude customers just pushed me over the edge. It sucks when a day goes like that, doesn’t it? Then again, I’m usually bitchy as it is, so maybe no one noticed.

We literally just finished recording the Neowin podcast that will be coming out later this week. Man, I never feel comfortable doing it. I always wind up cracking lame jokes and filling the cast with awkward silence. I guess dry situational humor doesn’t convey well in the conversion to a sound only experience. I have to work on that, I guess. Being in a bad mood didn’t help really. Had to fake some of that jolliness lol.

I don’t know what else to say. I’m tired. What a fucking bad day.

Mr. Ghostman

Mr. Ghostman (6/13/2006)

I see some people have issues like Kleenex got tissues
If you find that shit lame, well, I guess, boy, it fits you
I don’t want this to hit you, though, cause it might break a platter
If there’s nothing to spin then the party might shatter
And the people that scatter might get a bit crazy
They just might come for me, well that’s really a maybe
I’m not dealing with ladies when you’re like Mrs. Daisy
So disappear like a ghost, not like Patrick Swayze
But you think that you phase me? Then you really don’t know me
I’m so calm, cool, collected, so just kneel down and blow me
And show me the way that you made all your friends son
You can start a mix tape, but I’ll be sure that I end one
I’ll seal it and send one and I’ll tell Mr. Postman
“Make sure that it gets there, to my Mr. Ghostman
He’s been wanting to boast man, so here’s my dedication
Now please rush this to him, I don’t like hesitation”
Cause I lost my reservations when his bullshit persisted
He’s just a little too tender, he can’t handle the critics
The one’s with the balls to step up in the moment
His anger’s a farce and he’s so far from potent
And I thought he should know it so I stood up and told it
I held to my word and made sure that I sold it
A “wanna be” knight with a horse made of bullshit
I thought you were cool, but you continue to pull this
And you’re acting so foolish, so hidden and gutless
Disguising your words like they’re chicken veal cutlets
Man, I crack my ass up with the lame jokes like that
Oh, before I lose track, can you please play my nut sack?

Notes: It’s a piece you have to read a bit slowly. If you can’t already tell, it’s supposed to be cheesy as hell. Lame insult after lame insult. Why? Because I’m not angry, just having fun trading blows with a truly immature person. On a side note, I never thought I’d use Patrick Swayze’s name in a rhyme, haha.

Rollin’ With Saget

He’s the illest mother fucker in a cardigan sweater. Bob Saget bitches.

A penny or 20,000 for my thoughts

1

Money, how I loathe thee. Money, how I love thee. Old english, how I hate you.

This weekend has been one huge monetary dilemma for me. Yesterday, I ordered my Dad’s Father’s Day gift from my sister and I. We’re going halfsies on two Pioneer DVR-111D DVD burners for him. He wanted two DVD drives so I thought the burners would be better suited. Plus, the Pioneers are solid models so he should have them for a while. I may pick one up for myself eventually.

Gifts don’t end there, unfortunately. My sister has yet to pick out what she wants for her graduation (she only graduated last week). I then have to take into account bother her and my dad’s July birthdays. On top of all that, I owe my mom $51 for various gifts for my grandmother. Jesus Christ people, spread this shit out.

I also need replacement blades for my electric razor. Well, I think I do. Maybe the burning sensation and lack of a smooth shave is a new feature I’ve only stumbled across recently. Unless I can get to the Best Buy in the city, that’s going to cost me about $35.

But, wait, it gets better. This morning I was awoken at 6am to a loud buzzing noise from my computer. For a reason beyond anyone’s understanding, my video card’s fan decided the card was too warm and it had to go on full blast. That’s nice and all, except the card has been between 37 to 40 degrees Celcius since the day I got my system. Turns out this fan just keeps throwing itself into full blast mode every few minutes and it makes this really loud whirring noise while doing so. Being that I don’t want to have the fan burn out and my card die on me, I’ve already ordered a Zalman VF700 (the 100% copper one). That’s another $33 down the drain. The irony is that I was going to buy the same damn part a few months ago and decided to not waste the money. If I had only known.

So, if you can spare it, can I have a penny or 20,000 for my thoughts?

Batman Begins

5

I saw this movie a while back, but it’s been playing on HBO lately, so I keep stumbling across it. Every time I see it, I get hooked. The movie is just put together so amazingly well. The darkness of the character and the honesty behind everything presented on screen is just so captivating. For instance, the Batmobile, was an actual car and did it’s own stunts. That’s nuts in and of itself. Beyond the cool gadgetry and all, though, can anyone not say that Christian Bale is the best Batman ever? His performance is so believable, it’s hard to not imagine him as really being a huge billionaire out to save his beloved city.

I just had to get that out. I just saw the movie again and I get all worked up every time I do. The next one is scheduled for release in 2008. Damn, that’s a long time.

What’d you guys think of it? Best comic hero movie of all time? With all respect to X-Men and Spiderman, I’d have to say so.

Music for the masses

0

I’m bored, but I have music playing, so I’m doing well enough. However, this time around, I thought I’d share my enjoyment and recommend a few tracks to you wonderful people. There’s a variety of styles and I promise everyone will like at least one of these tracks, so make sure to give them all a chance.

  • Godsmack – “Temptation”
  • Matisyahu – “Youth”
  • Fort Minor – “The Hard Way”
  • Staind – “Let It Out”
  • Seether – “69 Tea”
  • Jay-Z w/ Eminem – “Renegade”
  • Disturbed – “Meaning of Life”

Well, there are just a few tracks to keep you busy. Have something you’d like others to listen to? Leave a comment and let everyone know about it. If you don’t, you’re a sucka, and no one wants to be that.

Rain, rain, go away…

0

…come again when the Yanks aren’t playing the Sox and I don’t have tickets to the game.

News just broke that the endless rain has resulted in a cancellation of tonight’s game to which I had upper deck tickets for. I was stoked about being able to see a Bosox/Yanks game in person, but now I’ll have to wait. There are two possibilities, right now, for a reschedule. The game will either be played in September or it may be moved to tomorrow afternoon for a day – night double header. As much as I need the money, I’m sort of hoping it’s tomorrow so I have a reason to miss work. Sure, half of the Yankees stars are M.I.A., but these young guys are making it even more fun to watch the games. Damn the rain.

Generalization of a Lone Man

1

Generalization of a Lone Man (6/3/2006)

Let’s take a look at our subject as he smiles along
He laughs with the rest so they don’t know something’s wrong
Some kind of protection from the thoughts in his mind
He’s doing fine though he feels a little worn out by the time
As he goes down the line and examines the faces
The stories of the people and the tales of the places
The way they all seem complacent without needing too much
Yet he gave up the world and now he can’t even find trust
So he breathes in the dust and stays down on the ground
There’s no point to get up when your hope has been drowned
So just lay on your back and simply pray that it passes
Then wipe the sweat from your brow and clear the tears from your lashes
And fight the fears and the madness and remember the good times
Every moment you smiled and when you knew that you could rhyme
With nothing but good lines, a silent prayer of thanks giving
Back to a time that’s been lost, way back when he was still living

I know it seems it’s the same thing, but trust me it’s different
One man had died with emotion, but this one will die with logistics
Hoping that logic will fix this and make everything a bit better
So he can get right back on the road and simply get it together
With the pieces thought missing and the questions unanswered
Replaced by solutions and instincts and more light in the lantern
The feelings that hampered him will be thrown to the wayside
And quickly forgotten when he sees that they ain’t right
Cause it’s not that he hates life, he’s just tired of feeling
The highs and the lows of a life with no meaning
And though he’s happy with dreaming, he knows there’s nothing to live for
There’s no light in his mind, his heart’s unwilling to give more

Notes: It’s a little weak, technically speaking, but my mind wasn’t all there. The piece itself describes the feeling of not thinking there’s anything out there that assures you of a happy future, especially after seeing what’s more than good enough for others.

Congratulations

Congrats to my sister, Niki, on finally graduating high school. Last one of us and man, it just reminds you how fast time flies. Either way, she balanced school and work, so major credit to her.

The Moose Call

1

Every one knows that Tino Martinez was my favorite Yankee player for almost the entire time he spent in the pinstripes. However, with Tino retired, I’ve had a bit of a dilemma trying to find my new favorite player. You know, just someone to cheer an extra little bit for. Last night, however, I figured it out.

There were two outs in the 9th, the Yanks were up 6 – 1, though a run had just scored. Joe Torre was coming out of the dugout to finally pull Mike Mussina from the game, figuring he was fatigued. However, in an exhibition of his passion and determination, you see Mike Mussina point at Torre and yell, “No! Stay there!” Torre turned around and went right back into the dugout. Next batter came up and the Moose struck him out for the final out of the game. That right there, won me over.

I know it sounds cheesy to some people, but I admire stubbornness and determination like that. Willing yourself through it until the end and refusing to give up. It’s a thing of beauty and the reason my moose calls will be just that much louder for now on.
