Limited Toshiba HD-A1 Shipments Hit Shelves
Just a heads up that the first nextgen DVD player, Toshiba’s HD-A1 HD-DVD player, has hit a few sstore shelves. Each Best Buy store has received a small shipment, I know for sure (my store got 3 today, already sold out).
A quick overview of the unit:
- 1. It’s huge. Think back to the size of the first DVD players
- 2. The device has both USB and Ethernet for connectivity in the future
- 3. Includes HDMI cable
I’m sure many people don’t see a point in this, but I know a few guys are dying to get this unit. I had a blast talking to the people who came in for it today. If you do get it for Best Buy, ask them if they have an movies in yet. According to one manager, each store should have a limited assortment of HD-DVD movies for sale also.
Unfortunately, as of posting this, the device hasn’t even been put on display yet, so you will have to ask someone for it.

I’m intrigued on how these new standards (HD-DVD and Blueray if I’m correct?) are going to pick up.
When you say “huge”, are you talking Xbox-huge?

That should give you a general idea lol
That’s cool man, can’t wait to get a burner and stuff for these but it’s going to cost a pretty penny. Probably be more than my computers worth when it’s ready.
