Updated to Wordpress 2.0

Well, Wordpress continues to impress me. I just updated to the shiney new 2.0 and NOTHING broke. It took 5 minutes to update and everything works perfectly, still. Now, that is simply amazing. I’m not sure you’ll be seeing any changes on your end, but the backend stuff and the admin panel have been completely redone. The site should run a little more smoothly now. Hopefully, things continue to run well.

For those who are using Wordpress 2.0 on your sites, what do you think of the rich text editor? Honestly, I didn’t like it, so I disabled it.

  1. Honestly, while I like the TinyMCE editor control, I didn’t like it in this setting either so I disabled it as well. The regular Wordpress editor is much more intuitive in a Blog setting in my opinion.

Also have to compliment WP on a great upgrade process - no problems whatsoever on my end either.

P.S. I call shenanigans! We’re both using the same theme! (I really need to make one for my blog…)

  2. Lol, I know I know. I keep trying to motivate myself to find a less commonly known theme to edit. To my credit though, this version is much more customized than most I’ve seen. Maybe I’ll change it to blue and beige instead. That shouldn’t be too hard.

  3. Nothing broke eh? I might just have to upgrade myself. Like you and Dave both, I have the same theme, and it’s good to know that it’s compatible with 2.0

I do have one question though… I’ve been trying to widen this theme to accomidate more “stuff” but haven’t quite seemed to figure it out. Any suggestions?

  4. Well, you have to edit the stylesheet AND the images. I used photoshop to stretch them a bit without distorting them badly.

  5. Yes, you do have a more customized version of this theme than any other I’ve seen. Kudos on that. ;-)

P.S. I think I saw the original of the tunnel image on http://www.sxc.hu somewheres if you want the full size version (no stretching)…

  6. I made an upgrade before its final release, my upgrade didn’t last for 5mins it took me days to fixed. What a shame! Despite of, WP2 looks great!

    You did a great job!

  7. My upgrade went well twice, once for RC3 and now for the final. It was tested on test blogs first, of course. I also hate the new RTE, and turned it off as soon as I could.

  8. Wordpress 2.0 final…

Days after moving to the RC3, the final is released. All is updated in the world now.

    ……

  9. So that’s a trackback post, eh? Interesting.

  10. Lol, my first non spam track back. I’m almost honored.

  11. I absolutely love the WP2, upgrade is easy

  12. All that stuff you guys talked about up there… is beyond me. Lol. But i like the green . LOL Keep it :D

  13. WP is just simply amazing. I upgraded and nothing broke for me either.

I personally like the rich editor that comes with WP2… but hey, that’s me though.
